Music at Stow has started a crowdfunding project for which they hope to raise £25,000 to fund a new grand piano which will reside at St Edward’s Church, Stow.

Not only will a new instrument assist in bringing top class musicians to Stow for concerts organised by Music at Stow but it will be an asset which St Edward’s church can use in arranging its own concerts and recitals by a variety of musicians.

At a time when churches face many challenges, and seek additional types of revenues, music is seen as a valuable tool not simply in enriching the community but also in raising future revenues for the church.

Music at Stow also hopes to attract talented young people to give their own concerts and thus attract a new generation into this lovely medieval church.

The present Bluthner grand piano is very old (over 100 years old in fact!) and has served the church and community reasonably well. Sadly it is no longer effective as a concert instrument and strong advice has been received that it is not worth restoring.
