Songs of Mourning, Songs of Faith and Joy

Among the finest tenors of his generation, James Gilchrist joins guitarist Mark Eden, winner of the Julian Bream prize, for a recital of English song spanning 4 centuries. Lute-songs by Dowland, and his contemporary Coprario’s haunting Songs of Mourning are set in dialogue with lutenist Ailsa Dixon’s 20th-century song cycle.
